Doodle Art and Simple Drawing

I have more than enough to keep me busy with sewing, quilting, card design, crochet, journaling, scrapbooking, hand embroidery, jewelry design, writing, music and more but I also (when I have time -haha) do a little doodling and simple drawing of artsy stuff. I’m not good at drawing or doodling but I really enjoy it. For me it’s a non-thinking thing. I just put pencil, pen or marker to paper and what gets drawn is what it is. No planning, no right or wrong and nothing fancy. Just like in writing on paper I find pleasure in the fluid movements it takes to draw on the paper. Even the sound that some writing or drawing instruments make as they glide over the paper can be pleasing to me. I find it a very enjoyable process but because I am always busy with other more important things it is one of the first things that gets pushed aside. A lot of time can pass between the times that I can sit and just enjoy the process.

Yesterday though, while my students were busy working on their projects and I had nothing to do I doodled a little bit on a loose sheet of watercolor paper that was sitting on the table. I didn’t think too much about it until this morning when I was getting ready for work. I realized that little taste from yesterday had left a very real graving for more of the same.

With that graving gnawing at me and just in case I found a few free moments today I decided to grab a few artsy things and take them to work with me. My old art journal was full so I dug out a new one from the stash of new ones I keep around and tossed it into a bag along with a little pouch filled with a few simple drawing supplies.

As it turned out I had plenty of time today to satisfy the craving I woke up with this morning. I probably won’t be able to work on it again for a while but today I got to add a title page to the new art book and I even completed the first doodled page. I feel full, happy and content with the time provided to me today. I am so blessed……………
