Things change

Well I had big sewing plans yesterday but sometimes things happen and plans change.  My sewing time got cut down to just a couple or hours but I did get a sample project for my class completed so that made me happy.

The class project is this Amish Star pot holder. I got the pattern for free off pintrest.

     SAMPLE being made

After cutting all the pieces they are folded and pressed prior to sewing.

Next the pieces are sewn down layer by layer according to size onto a scrap background.

Once all the front pieces are on then I added batting to the center and fabric to the back. This is only a sample but if I was going to use it as an actual pot holder or hot pad I would have used insulbrite thermal batting instead of plain cotton batting.  After it was all layered I machine sewed the bias tape on the front, brought it over the edges and hand stitched it to the back.

All finished ….It’s okay but I didn’t think ahead regarding the hanger and I don’t like where it’s located. It will look better once I move it so the center of the hanger is lined up with the center of one of the seams.

Even though I didn’t get all the sewing done that I planned it was a productive day anyway.

I hope you had a great day!
