Food – a blessing
One of my sons “loves” steaks. Since I can’t afford them ONCE A YEAR I splurg and make him a large steak dinner for his birthday. Not this past birthday though-$50. for one t-bone was simply out of my reach. Of course I was sad & disappointed that I couldn’t buy steak for his birthday dinner and told him so more than once BUT I was (and still am) grateful we had a nice dinner, a small cake with ice cream and everyone went to bed in a home and not on the streets. We are richly “blessed”!

It’s rare for me to comment on senstive subjects but with the above memory of my sons birthday dinner and all the food stamp posts popping up lately I find myself completely confused. The amount some families are receiving monthly and what they purchase with those funds is hard for me to believe. Seeing the stacks of meat in their shopping carts which include the many steaks they will take home leaves me dumbfounded. I’m sure not everyone shops so irresponsibly taking what they receive for granted but seeing how some do I find that I simply can’t understand their actions.
No, I don’t understand.
