Monthly Quilt Blocks-Something New

I’m starting something new in the Quilting classes that I teach.

Every month I will be posting a featured quilt block and differnt ways it can be arraigned.

My plan is to present a variety of blocks that will be created using either traditional piecing, appliqué or paper piecing. At the end of these classes the students will have enough blocks to make a sampler quilt. I will then go over the different ways a quilt can be finished including quilt as you go and Free motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine. If a quilt is not wanted the completed blocks can be used to makes pillows, tote bags, table runners or numerous other items.

This month the featured block is the “Cat’s eye”. Depending on how it’s positioned the block can look very different.. Also by adding just one more color the block changes from the “Cat’s Eye” to the “Split Cat’s Eye” which has a completely different look.
