Get To Know Me
{I used to post this type of “get to know me” stuff in the distant past when my site and business was much more active. At the time my students and clients seemed to like it then stuff happened and everything everywhere slowed down so I got away from it. Recently though, for some unknown reason I’ve received numerous requests to start again. I’m not sure why anyone is interested but I gave my word so here’s a repeat of an old post. I’ll see what kind of response I get and then I’ll decide if I’ll do any more.}
Those that know me know I am most comfortable bare footed wearing stretchy jeans and a novelty t-shirt. Usually one that has something to do with music, sewing, quilting, crochet or art. While that is what I normally wear my tastes are much wider and more complex.
Did you know that I drool over the early Christian Dior designs in addition to those of Jacques Fath. There were others during the same period Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga and of course Coco Chanel. Coco Chanel, though widely known, is the one I like the least.
Among those mentioned, my favorites are Dior and Fath. I look at Dior’s work and am amazed at the construction. The hand work, the under skirts, the ribbing and all the technical support that went into his designs. I actually studied the construction of his designs. The artistic design and talent of both designers fascinate me and feeds my creative side.
What about YOU? Do you have a favorite designer? If so, who is it and what do you like about their designs?

UPDATE: Since I wrote the above post I spent 2 plus years working with and for the international designer Antonio Corbie. Sadly he passed way too soon. He was an amazing designer and I was blessed to get to work beside him and call him friend. His work moves him as a designer to the top of my list.

The two gowns shown below are 2 of the many I was able to work on.
