Make me a tote please…

A client had a Wizard of Oz cotton Panel (see panel below) and asked me to make a tote bag from it.

The only directions was that she wanted me to use the “face” area for the tote. Here are pictures of what I was able to come up with.

This is the front of the large tote. I used the boarder from the panel to make the handle.

This is a picture of the back. I used a small scene that I had in my stash to make a pocket. I think it fit the tote well.

This is the inside of the tote. You can see a bit of the handle in the bottom left corner of the picture. Sorry about all the fuzzy thread bits--I hadn't cleaned it up yet.

After the tote was completed I looked over what was left and was able to get enough fabric to make this smaller tote.

After the second tote was done there wasn't much left but scraps. I wanted to make sure that I used as much of the panel as possible, not only for my client but also because I hate to waste fabric. I found enough to make this zippered change pouch.

Now there’s nothing left of the panel but what are truly “scraps”.  I hope my client likes what was done and that she will be “pleasantly surprised” when she gets 3 items instead of the one tote she commissioned.  🙂
