I’m so glad you’ve decided to join the class. This page is for YOU and your convenience so you have a simple and quick way to check on what’s happening in class at any time. I will be posting information such as:
what the next project is going to be,
what fabric or supplies you will need to bring to class
changes in class schedule
etc…

 

As you already know this is a Beginners Sewing Class. Every class project we complete is important. They are set up to strengthen newly learned techniques and introduce additional  ones that will take you to the next level in your sewing skills.

July 11th class project-Phobe purse continued

 

 

 

JUNE 27th class project-Phobe purse

Supplies you will need for the JUNE 27th class:

1/2 yard 100 % cotton fabric for outside of purse

1/2 yard 100 % cotton fabric for inside of purse

1/2 yard iron on medium weight interfacing

snap or velcro

thread to match outside fabric

large button and 1/2 yard ribbon to match button

NEW SESSION BEGINS 5/23/2019

For this session, or until we have enough students to separate the classes we will be having the quilting and the sewing class at the same time. It may get a bit confusing at times but it’s better than having to cancel both due to lack of students. 

 

If you are taking the SEWING class and are still working on your last project bring it with you so it can be completed.  If you are done, bring the following supplies for the next project:

Draw String Pouch
Supplies needed:
2 (TWO)  fat quarters (18x 22 inches or larger) – contrasting colors of your choice
thread to match
ribbon color of your choice

 

If you are going to take QUILTING then you will need:

 

one piece of solid colored cotton fabric of your color choice at least 13 x 13 inches square and whatever scraps of fabric you have.  We will go over what supplies you will need in the future and discuss the quilt pattern that we will be starting on.

This week we will finish the lined tote bag. If you are close to being finished AND if you are

planning to take  the next session you should bring supplies for our next project.

This week we will finish the lined tote bag.  If you are close to being finished you should bring supplies for our next project.

INFORMATION FOR CLASS #4 & #5  April 25, 2019 & May 2, 2019

 

This week we will finish up the pillow case and we will begin work on a lined tote bag with pockets.

You will need the following supplies:

3/4 yard of cotton fabric for the outside of the bag-your choice of color or print

1 yard of cotton fabric for the lining, the pockets and the handles-your choice of and color or print that contrasts the fabric for the outside of the bag

1  yard of iron on light to  mid or medium  weight interfacing. This can be found in  a package like the one shown below or cut from off a bolt.  The brand doesn’t matter.

You can use the pins, scissors, seam rippers, and machines at the center or bring yours from home. That is your choice.
IMPORTANT: Before class you will need to wash the fabric, dry and press it so it will be ready to use.

INFORMATION FOR CLASS #3 April 18, 2019

 

For the first part of the class we will be finishing the pincushions. Most of you just need to stuff it, close the opening ( I will go over how to do a LADDER STITCH to close)  and sew on the button. 

We will then be starting on a PILLOWCASE that has FRENCH SEAMS.

You will need to bring the following supplies:

3 different colors of fabrics -(your choice of colors)…all 100 % cotton

3/4 yard for the body

1/4 yard for the cuff 

1/8 yard for an accent

thread

You can use the pins,  scissors,  seam rippers, and machines at the center or bring yours from home. That is your choice.  

IMPORTANT:  Before class you will need to wash the fabric, dry and press it so it will be ready to use.  We will go over “why” during class.

INFORMATION FOR CLASS #2   April 11, 2019

 

DUE TO MOST OF THE STUDENTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE TO  ATTEND CLASS # 1 ON THE 4TH INSTEAD OF MOVING ON TO THE CLASS #2  PROJECT  WE WILL BE COVERING WHAT WAS TO TAKE PLACE ON THE 4TH.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME.  SEE YOU THERE 🙂

 

INFORMATION FOR CLASS # 1     April 4, 2019

For the first class you will NOT need to bring anything but yourself.  I will supply the fabric you will be using for the first class and there are sewing machines and misc. sewing supplies(i.e. scissors, iron, seam ripper, etc. ) that will be available for your use while you are in class.  Please be advised though…..you WILL need a sewing machine and your own sewing supplies to use at home. Also you are responsible for purchasing your own fabric, thread and any additional supplies needed to complete the class projects in the future. I will give you a supply list and we will go over what you will need to bring for the 2nd class.  Even though we will be spending a little time going over the supplies that you will need, answering any questions you may have and explaining  what you can  expect from the classes, don’t fret,  you WILL get to sew during class #1.
