Scrappy Blocks of the Day-a new idea
I’m starting something new today.
I have so many bits and pieces of fabric that I have decided, instead of adding to my “out of control” fabric stash, every day when I finish a project I will use the scraps from that day to complete (at least) one 6 inch block. When I have the extra time I’ll pull some fabric out of my old stash and make a few extra blocks.
Putting together one block, especially a 6 inch block, doesn’t take that long and the completed blocks will be easy to store until I have enough to make a scrappy quilt. I’m actually looking forward to getting started and to see the quilts that will take form from the blocks I create each day. I have a feeling they will add up quickly.
If I do just one block a day then I will have enough 6 inch blocks by the end of the month for an average crib sized quilt (approx. 43 x 36 if you add a 2 inch sashing between the blocks. Larger if you add a boarder) I bet there’s a new little one out there that could use a hand made quilt.
Of course I’ll post pictures of the blocks as I make them. I started a new page just for them titled “Scrappy Blocks of the Day”. Having them all in the same place will make them easy to find.
The first block I will be making is the Shoo Fly block. To see the first two I made from yesterday’s scraps (leftover from me making the purse) go to the new page by clicking on the following link:
(you will be able to find it easily at any time by clicking on the link that I have placed in the menu that’s on the black banner at the top of each page)
