What I’ve been up to today…
Hi everyone. I hope you had a good day.
I’m getting ready to settle in for the night but I wanted to touch bases with you before I do.Yes, I know it’s very early for me but as much as I enjoy the rain and clouds, they hate my asthma and believe me, my asthma hates them right back. I’m having to use my inhaler a lot and just need to get some extra rest. I’m sure it’s pretty much the same with everyone else that deals with asthma and it will pass so that’s enough said about that 🙂
Now on with the letting you know what I’ve been up to today.
I had a sewing class this morning. Everyone is making a purse similar to this one.
Of course they have picked out their own color combinations. They shortened or lengthened the handle or even used two, depending on their personal preference. They have all done a great job. Everyone should be done by the end of the next class then we’re going to make another purse by upcycling a pair of jeans.
My second class of the day was canceled. I showed for the class but no one else did. Many roads around town were flooded and it was raining like crazy so I’m sure everyone decided wisely to just stay in. Because there was no class I was able to come home early and……guess what???? SEW -imagine that! lol
Do you remember a few days ago when I posted this picture? Well every time I looked at the blocks I had completed I just wasn’t happy with them.
They seemed too plain and dull. I ended up picking all the seams apart and adding 1 1/2 inch black fabric strips to separate the white from the mixed colors.
It took a long time to pick everything a part but I’m very glad I did. I like this much more! As much as I’d like to take credit for this, I can’t. I saw it done this way online. I “think” it was a quilt by Bonnie Hunter. She has so many great scrappy quilt ideas.
I should have it complete before the end of the week.
I also finished the 11th scrappy block of the day. (we’re moving right along)
I have this quilt to complete too. All the scraps are paper piece but I still have to assemble the 6 1/2 inch squares to make the 12 1/2 inch block like the one shown below. When the 12 1/2 inch blocks are completed I’ll add the sashing, assemble the rows and then put the rows together. Once both tops are finished I’ll sandwich them and get to work on the free motion quilting.
Actually I also have these two (shown below) to be quilted too so I’ll be fmq for a while. It shouldn’t take all that long and once done I’ll have FOUR completed quilts. Yippee!!
I know some people like to piece but don’t like to quilt and some like to quilt but really don’t enjoy the piecing. Me, I like it ALL. Every step is enjoyable to me even the hand binding which seems to be what many people dislike the most.
So there you have it:
what I’ve been up to today. Now it’s time to relax and get some rest.
Sleep well everyone………..sweet dreams!
