Day of the Dead
In the movie Coco the grandmother says it’s the one night of the year our ancestors can come visit us. Biblically that is incorrect. In 2 Corinthians 5 Paul says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So, once we die we are either in heaven or hell not waiting around to come back to earth and visit those that are still living.
Setting up an altar to attempt to have communication with those that have gone before is forbidden by the Lord. Witchcraft, psychics, mediums, necromancy, etc are not of the Lord. Don’t take my word for it……………study it for yourself.
~~~~> just a few places to start:
Deut 18:10-12
Leviticus 19:31
Leviticus 20:6
Galatians 5:19 – 5:21
This is important so study it out for yourself.
Day of the Dead
In homes, at graves or in the schools of today
not God, but tradition and culture leads way
Holiness is out, necromancy is in
So deceived — families gather in sin
They build altars to commune with ones that are dead
using skulls, favorite drinks and baked bread
Candles are lit and sweet photos of old
are viewed as fun stories are told
So innocent it seems, this gathering to commune
with dead loved ones ‘neath sun or the moon
But it’s insidious and evil on so many levels
for they’ll summon not loved ones but devils
