Quilt delivered (finally)
Now that the quilt is in the hands of the person I made it for I can safely post the pictures I snapped along the way.
With the quilt top completed, batting and background fabric purchased I was getting ready to start with the sandwiching process…
Fabric for the back of the quilt …
is placed right side down first and then the batting is placed over that making sure there are no wrinkles. Once that is put into place I used large clips to hold them tight to the table and prevent either one from shifting around.
Next I place the quilted/appliqued piece on the top of the batting and background fabric, again making sure everything stays wrinkle free and taunt. I adjust the clips so that they hold all three pieces together and to the table.
Once that is done I am ready to pin….pin….pin. (sometimes I hand baste the 3 pieces together but I used pins on this quilt)
Once everything was pinned down I machine quilted this by stitching in the ditch and outlining the moon and kitty’s. I then hand stitched the binding around the edges.
The fabric did not have the shooting stars on it. I used glow in the dark embroidery floss and hand embroidered them on. I also embroidered over lots and lots of the little star dots that are printed on the sky fabric with the glow in the dark embroidery floss. The thread I used is really nice. It glows very bright for a long time with a minimum amount of charging time. I love glow in the dark thread-it’s just so much fun. Oh and I used soft fuzzy fabric for the appliqued kittys so they’d feel “comforting” when touched. 🙂
Here are 2 more pictures of the front of the quilt showing the work a bit closer.

Now it’s on to begin the next quilt.
